M.I, what tha fuck were you thinking?

What tha fuck did I just download? The speed wey I use comb the internet just to download this track ehn.. Naaah I’m disappointed. This wasn’t what I was expecting to hear really. While playing, I had to check if I was playing the right track. No, it isnt wack. It’s lack-lustre. It’s like Gospel and Fuji had uprotected sex. It just doesn’t sound M.I; hence it’s almost wack!

Is this supposed to be a love-themed something? Is this the same M.I that did ‘One Naira’? Is the girl he did this song for, a Puff-puff seller? Plenty questions filled my head after each play. I downloaded it since yesterday oh and decided to listen to it in the wee hours of today when there was a bit of serenity just so I can pay rapt attention. I pressed play and my facial muscles became paralysed. Sounds like Olumba Olumba Church infused rap in their mantra. The track has no depth whatsoever.

Judoski, Please dont tell me this track is gonna make the final cut for Illegal Music 2. If it is, you can like to use your recycle bin. It’s just there. Bland. Nothing special. Yes it  has the ability to grow on you, but right now i dont feel like playing host to some boring Endoparasite, neither do I feel like adding more weight.

“You leave my world cold.. Moscow.” Where’ s your Calendar? Who has M.I been hanging out with? Where’s the blasted hunger? I played it eight times by the way and got no wow effect. Normal everyday up-coming-rapper-nothing-special typer lyrics. Craig David should find you and give you flying kick danu danu. Mr. Oga dont fall your hand, surpass the ‘Illegal Music EP’ M.I. Even Faggots in Prison wont drop these slippery bars. The track artwork gets more attention than the track. Get better Nigga, get better.

DOWNLOAD + PLAY “M.I – SEVEN DAYS”

Excerpt from Bella’s Diary

 9:32:08 pm. Friday, May 7, 1999

Today I waited all day in my apartment for that stupid boy to come gimme some overdue servicing, the fool didn’t show up and not a single word of notice or apology from him; no telephone call, no text or email. Nothing. Not for his  sexual prowess in bed, I swear I would have disposed off Segun like I do all items of trash in my life, he should go ask from all my prior conquests, I take the matter of banging deathly seriously, you promise me a shag, we MUST rendezvous for a good ole fuck otherwise you go to hell. Perhaps I need to play him Beyoncé’s Irreplaceable for him to get it. Arrrggghh! Why the fug am I even writing all this rubbish…

…I am a whore (that’s what they call me, but simply put, I’m just a lover of good things) and I am proud of it. I love sex and I’m never afraid to flaunt it to whoever cares to pay attention or pay for the attention. Sometimes I do it for the money—that comes with the territory anyway, but usually it’s for the self-gratification; and that’s the sweetest part. Just the thought of having sex is enough in itself to excite me; the thought of having a full, sizeable pecker thrusting in and out of me slowly, then gradually grinding the mill faster, is enough to get me wetting my La perla in anticipation, but actually having my orifices—yes orifices—assaulted by a fine cock is the topping on the pie. Sex is such a sweet recipe, yummy. Such an exotic menu to choose from, I can have it in the: face, mouth, behind and of course the fine cuisine of spooning the pussy…cat. Not to blaspheme but if there is a God I think he or she must have an impeccable carnal taste because I cannot fathom any other reason why a Supreme Being would create such a mind-blowing phenomenon such as ‘Sex’.

I started having sex at age fourteen. All the years before, my mother had spun me the classic tale of ‘if you have sex, you will die’, even though I somewhat believed her all those years, I felt it was time for me to indulge my adolescent whim a lil bit and experience what dying felt like at that age when I gladly relinquished my V-card to broda Waheedi. Beyonce! Why Evils?

At first I coulnt be bothered but the rumor is starting to sound true to me and something might actually be fishy. Shortly after Beyoncé broke the news of her twitter-record breaking pregnancy news at the MTV music awards, the grapevine went to town with a rumor (if it is that is) that King B might actually not be carrying her own baby and that a surrogate is somewhere doing the actual motherly duty. Though there were unserious whispers/gags of the said rumor when a picture of bikini-clad preggy Beyoncé surfaced, the news actually started flying after an appearance Beyoncé made on Sunday Night talk show where her dress, or rather as the rumor has it, her baby bump folded/shifted as the case may be, as she was about to take a seat. Consequently different controversies have been making the rounds everywhere and leaving more questions than answers, still the pop diva maintains her reticence about the issue. 00′s Throwback: Ja Rule & Ashanti – “Always On Time”

Cast your mind back to 2001 and you’ll remember that hip-hop/R&B duo Ja Rule and Ashanti were creating quite a name for themselves, particularly stateside. For, they were the main faces of hip-hop collective and record label Murder Inc. (now known as The Inc.). During their peak they released many collaborative efforts, but none soared higher than “Always on Time” – peaking at number 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and featuring on their Hot R&B/Hip Songs of the Decade chart.

Album Review: Cher Lloyd – “Sticks + Stones”

If cartoon characters could make albums, they would sound exactly like “Sticks + Stones”. For, this album showcases a gimmicky and animated cartoon-like persona of Cher, as aptly illustrated on the album sleeve. Add to this some high energy sing-along melodies, multiple “swag” references and inundated impersonations of her idol Nicki Minaj and you would have the complete picture, without even having to listen.

This is no more evident than on the Busta Rhymes-assisted “Grow Up” where everything, from the multiple personas adopted to the aggressive yet animated delivery, has Minaj written all over it. Still, you can’t blame a girl for trying, and although on paper it shouldn’t work, it comes off as an easy-on-the-ears melodic pop number, with Busta Rhymes giving it a slight urban touch. However, the irony is too blatant to ignore, given that after screaming to us all summer about people that don’t have their own “swag”, courtesy of what is probably the most unloved number 1 of recent times – “Swagger Jagger”, one would expect less impersonating and more originality from the teen popstar.  Read the rest of this entry »
